Pelham City School System Names Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year at the Teacher Appreciation Breakfast on January 2, 2011!

Ms. Anita Moore accepts the Classified Employee of the Year award that was posthumously awarded to her sister, Ms. Sandra Jakes.  The Classified Employee of the Year award will be called The Sandra Jakes Classified Employee of the Year award in the future.

January 2, 2011 gave the Pelham Chamber of Commerce, Family Bank, Pelham Banking Company, DOCO Federal Credit Union, and Community Bank of Pelham an opportunity to thank our local teachers.  On this day a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast was held and nominees for Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year were recognized.  During the Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, Sara Wingate was named the Teacher of the Year and Ms. Sandra Jakes was posthumously recognized as Classified Employee of the Year.  Ms. Jakes' sister, Anita Moore, recieved the award on behalf of her sister.   We would like to ask that ALL citizens of Pelham thank our hardworking teachers and school staff for the wonderful work that they do for our children!

Pelham, Georgia is home to one of the South's Greatest Festivals...the Pelham Wildlife Festival.  Held the first Saturday in October, this festival draws an estimated 14,000 visitors annually.  Each year, this event attracts families, friends and area visitors who enjoy spending quality time together in a fun, festive and spirited hometown atmosphere.
